In order to install IIS on Windows 7 Embedded Standard Edition, you will need to download the toolkit from Microsoft. The regular “Turn Features on or off” dialog box only works for normal Windows Versions (Home, Professional, etc..), but not for embedded editions.

To install nor add new Features in Windows 7 embedded standard, you need to have access to the toolkit DVD.

Step 1: Download the toolkit from Microsoft.
Please note the toolkit download is broken down into eight parts. You will need all of them in order to assemble them into a single iso.

Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 consists of 3 DVD5 images (ISO’s).

Download the .exe and .rar files for each DVD image into its own folder and run the .exe file in that folder to reconstitute the .ISO file.

Step 2: either burn the ISO to a DVD, or Mount the ISO directly using a 3rd party Virtual CD Rom. We recommend using Magic ISO to mount the ISO file. The drive letter should be D:\.

Step 3: Once the ISO is mounted as drive D:, run each of the following commands in an administrative command prompt:

Note: run them one at a time

DISM /online /add-package /packagepath:”D:\DS\Packages\FeaturePack\x86~winemb-iis~~~~6.1.7601.17514~1.0″ /Norestart

DISM /online /add-package /packagepath:”D:\DS\Packages\FeaturePack\x86~winemb-iis-was~~~~6.1.7601.17514~1.0″ /Norestart

Step 4: Restart the machine
Step 5: Verify IIS is working by browsing to http://localhost. You should be greeted by the standard IIS Welcome Page.
